2020-04-14 12:04:45

Following the recent IGA board elections, we are delighted to inform you that we will have eight board directors of IGA:

  1. Suyog Sathe (India)
  2. Yoram Muller (Israel)
  3. Anne-Grethe Lauridsen (Denmark)
  4. Biljana Jovanovic (Serbia)
  5. Aviva Rosenberg (USA)
  6. Irena Znidar (Slovenia)
  7. Vesna Aleksovska (North Macedonia)
  8. Kristiyan Dimitrov (Bulgaria)

The new board will come into effect after our Biennial General Meeting that will take place on Saturday 23rd May.

As we welcome four new board members to the IGA Board, we say goodbye to Paulina Pena Aragon (Mexico), Aimee-Kate Bosch (South Africa) and Christine White (Canada). We would like to say a massive thank you to them for their commitment and passion over the last few years and hope that although they will not be a serving board member that they will continue with their work with the IGA on the various workstreams that they were involved in.

As a chair, I will miss the enthusiasm of Paulina: she always challenged decisions, asked questions and provided alternative solutions and ideas; and the experience of Christine who brought to the table many years of being a patient advocate and the parent of two Gaucher patients. Aimee-Kate managed to reach a great success helping the IGA to be more visible on social media, which is why she was and still is a vital part of International Gaucher Day.  They are all unique people in the way they accomplish goals.

At the same time, we welcome the new board members: Yorum Muller, Aviva Rosenberg, Kristyan Dimitrov, and Suyog Sathe. All of them were involved in different task forces and workstreams in IGA prior to being appointed as a board member, proving to be valuable volunteers for the IGA. As an organisation, the IGA strives to have dedicated people that will continue to take forward our mission to improve the quality of life of patients with Gaucher disease and their families.

The IGA’s CEO, Tanya Collin-Histed and Chair, Vesna Aleksovska, are working together with the board to review the IGA’s strategy and continue to serve the Gaucher community. We have more challenges but we have a lot to be thankful for in 2020. Even in COVID19 time, the IGA is proving to be a leader, to support and to grow as needed.

We are looking forward to our online Zoom membership meeting in May and will see you all soon.  In the meantime, stay safe and continue to communicate and work with us.
