To mark the company's founding 30 years ago this year, Shire is announcing a global program intended to benefit children with rare diseases, their families and the rare disease community. Shire is commencing a three-year initiative with global partnerships with:

• SeriousFun Children’s Network, the community of 30 camps and programs serving children with serious illnesses and their families. Shire’s annual gift will enable nearly 1,000 children, many with rare diseases, to attend camp, as well as support Family Weekends and provide educational opportunities to strengthen the camps’ abilities to serve children with rare diseaseshttps://www.seriousfunnetwork.org/impact/research
• The ACMG Foundation for Genetic and Genomic Medicine, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, which supports the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics’ mission to improve health through the practice of medical genetics and genomics. Shire’s grant will fund 10 genetic fellowships which will begin to address the severe shortage of medical geneticists who are essential to the diagnosis and management of rare diseases, and the care of individuals with genetic conditions.https://www.acmgfoundation.org/
