Go with Gaucher Istanbul 10-12 November 2023

We are pleased to announce that the Go with Gaucher (GwG) event is back this year and is scheduled to take place on November 10th–12th, 2023 at Istanbul, Türkiye. What began as a pilot project in 2012 has since become an integral part of the IGA’s mission.
As in previous years, the event will be “by invitation only”, and it is the responsibility of national associations to identify potential participants. We would like to extend an invitation to young adult Gaucher patients aged 18-30 years, to join us for the GwG event. The event has been designed to achieve two primary objectives:
1. To enable Gaucher patients to meet with fellow patients around the world and build support networks.
2. To develop knowledge and leadership potential
We understand that the success and outcome of the event depend largely on each individual participant. Therefore, all candidates are equally welcome, regardless of their experience or familiarity with the national Gaucher community.
In an effort to reach as many young Gaucher patients as possible, we have decided that individuals who have participated in two or more previous GWG events will not be eligible to attend, as our goal is to increase awareness and allow many different Gaucher patients to connect and exchange ideas with peers from all over the world.
This year’s participants should meet any one of the following criteria:
· Patients aged 18-30 who have NOT attended any previous GwG meetings.
· Patients aged 18-30 who have attended ONE previous GwG meeting.
The event will be held in English, so proficiency in English is essential.
Initially, each member organization can nominate only one participant. However, in the event that the meeting is not fully subscribed to, the IGA Board will consider additional candidates from member organisations on a discretionary basis.
In the coming days, we will provide further information about the program and registration. The IGA will arrange and cover the cost of travel, accommodation, and all meals during the event. Individuals will be responsible for travel insurance, and visa costs if applicable.
