Charitable Access to Treatment

Helping people access diagnosis, treatment and care

If you or someone in your family has Gaucher disease, or is suspected of having Gaucher disease, and you are struggling to access diagnosis or treatment, the IGA is here to help.

Wherever you live in the world, contact us and we will explore what support may be possible.

How can we help?

Through our Global Gaucher Connect Programme, we support patients, families and healthcare professionals around the world.

Diagnosis

Helping to explore diagnostic testing when it is difficult to access.

Gaucher expertise

Connecting patients and healthcare professionals with Gaucher specialists and patient organisations.

Access to treatment

Exploring charitable or humanitarian access programmes and helping healthcare professionals navigate the application process.

Complex cases

Working with patients, healthcare professionals and partners to explore possible routes forward when diagnosis or access to treatment is challenging.

What is charitable access?

Some pharmaceutical companies provide medicines free of charge to eligible patients who cannot access treatment through their country’s healthcare system.

Each programme has its own eligibility requirements, and availability varies between countries.

Important to know

The IGA can help explore what options may be available, but we cannot guarantee access to treatment. The IGA’s existing charitable access information confirms that these programmes are managed by medicine manufacturers, and that each programme has its own eligibility criteria.

What happens when you contact us?

A simple four-step process:

01

Tell us your situation

Complete our secure support form.

02

We review your case

We may ask for medical information or details of your healthcare professional.

03

We explore the options

This may include support with diagnosis, specialist expertise or potential access to treatment.

04

We stay connected

Where we can help, we will support you as your case progresses.

Humanitarian access and continuity of treatment

For some people, conflict, displacement or disruption to healthcare systems can make it difficult to access or continue treatment.

The IGA works with healthcare professionals, patient organisations and relevant partners to explore possible solutions for people facing complex access challenges.

The IGA’s recent work identifies expanding access to treatment as a major priority, including through the Global Gaucher Connect Programme and regional initiatives.

Are you a healthcare professional?
